About Rosie

SPONSORED BY THE ROTARY CLUB OF ETRURIA

Name- Rosie Grieve

Age- 33

Hometown- Stone, Staffordshire

Occupation and job role- I currently work as a project manager for a ceramics art festival entitled the British Ceramics Biennial. I am a member of a small team who has worked on the planning, launch and running of a city wide 10 week festival over the last 5 months. My specific tasks have been to manage & support several artists, negotiate residencies, take responsibility for 1x festival venue as well as recruiting and managing a team of volunteers.

My professional history of working as a Gallery Technician and subsequently, Exhibitions Co-ordinator at The Lowry has given me an excellent grounding of working within the arts. My time at The Lowry was particularly enriching as I worked with a contemporary art curator as well as with the LS Lowry Collection. During this time I represented the Lowry galleries when working with The National Gallery, Tate Britain, The Hayward Gallery and many other national institutions. I also travelled abroad to accompany Lowry paintings when they went out on loan.

Interests and hobbies- Anything arts & culture orientated. Watching & discussing foreign language & independent cinema. Visiting art exhibitions. Going to music & performance events. Yoga, mediation and dancing. Trying new things.

Favourite food- Anything vegetarian. I also love fish dishes and Asian food in very general terms…Indian, Thai, Japanese…delicious!  I tend to lean towards healthy, fresh food with lots of colour.

If I had one wish-  For greater understanding & tolerance between people across the globe. If I were an Education Minister(!) I would include a gap year for school students to work abroad for a charitable cause into the school curriculum in the hope that it might encourage more humanitarianism in young people.
